Don’t worry, we won’t hijack tomorrow’s rally, says PAS

Information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari gives an assurance that no party flags will be flown at the anti-graft gathering.

Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the PAS leadership has no objections to members taking part in the rally.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari says his party will not “hijack” the Himpunan Rakyat Benci Rasuah set for tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur.

In a post on Facebook, Fadhli said PAS Youth has only expressed support for the rally organisers’ right to congregate as citizens.

“Don’t worry. We will not hijack this rally. I guarantee no PAS flag will fly at the rally tomorrow.

“If (any PAS flag is flown), please record those involved so that they can be investigated and action taken against them should they be members of our party,” the Pasir Mas MP said.

Fadhli also said the PAS leadership has no objections to its members taking part in the rally.

“(Similar to how) PAS will not stop its members from going to the night market or mosque, (such decisions by the members are made) on an individual basis, not as PAS members,” he said.

The rally’s secretariat had earlier urged PAS and Bersatu Youth not to hijack the event tomorrow.

“We invite you to join this rally as it is for all citizens, no matter their party background or ideology.

“But we warn you: do not bring party logos, slogans, names or imagery to the Jan 25 rally. This rally belongs to all citizens and is not for political parties to hijack,” they said in a statement.
