Cops launch probe after woman’s photos edited to appear nude

Police say the photos were uploaded on Tumblr and sold for RM18 each.

PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation into photos of a woman which were edited to make her appear nude and uploaded online.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said the victim, a Malaysian, lodged a report on Jan 20.

“The woman said her photos were edited to make her appear nude, uploaded on the Tumblr application and sold for RM18 each by an unknown person,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which prohibits the sale, distribution, possession or public exhibition of obscene materials.

Shahrulnizam urged those with information on the case to contact the district police headquarters at 03-79662222.
