Kedah fire and rescue department senior operations officer Azhar Mohamad said the victims’ identities had yet to be ascertained.
“We received a call about a fire at 6.51am involving a class A house and arrived at the location about six minutes later,” he said in a Bernama report.
“Based on initial information, there were three victims involved. Two men were found collapsed inside the house while another man managed to escape the fire.”
A witness, Jefri Ahmad, 51, said he realised there was a fire after waking up to prepare for morning prayers.
“I heard a noise outside my house and when I looked outside, I saw a raging fire.
“I immediately called the fire and rescue department,” he said, adding that the two victims were among five people who had lived in the house.
Separately, a gas storage factory was destroyed in a fire that spread to two other factories in Taman Aman Perdana, Klang, last night.
Selangor fire and rescue department assistant operations officer Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said three foreigners suffered serious burns in the incident.
In a statement, he said the fire, which was believed to have started at the gas storage factory, spread to an adjacent heavy machinery storage warehouse and a copper processing factory.
He added that the gas storage factory and the heavy machinery storage warehouse were 80% destroyed, while the copper factory was 20% damaged.
