State welfare, women’s development and national unity committee chairman Maliaman Kassim said the meeting will be attended by representatives from several agencies, including the police, the welfare department, and the state health department, Bernama reported.
“Previously, we were shocked by the death of three Universiti Teknologi Mara students who were rammed by a car driven by a woman with mental disability. So we want to look for the best way to tackle these issues,” he was quoted as saying.
“I hope the public will not be afraid of coming to Terengganu because of such incidents. This is an isolated case. We leave it to the authorities to investigate and charge (the perpetrators).”
Maliaman had visited the victim, Ahmad Nor Al Faizan Jusoh, 47, at the psychiatric ward of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital earlier.
He said Ahmad, who is bipolar, was cheerful when he visited him this morning.
Ahmad was assaulted after his motorcycle collided into a stall at the farmers’ market, causing several items from one of the stalls to topple to the ground.
He was dragged, kicked and beaten before fried noodles were poured over his head.
