PETALING JAYA:
Police have received two reports about cats being stuffed into sacks outside an apartment building in Batu 9 Cheras, Kajang yesterday.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the reports were lodged separately yesterday and today, after a video of the act being committed was shared on social media, Berita Harian reported.

“One of the reports was based on a video showing a group of men capturing the cats and putting them into sacks, before taking them away in a vehicle, believed to be discarded at an unknown location.

“We also received a report from committee members of the apartment’s residents’ association, who were seen in the video. They denied abusing the cats,” he was quoted as saying.

Naazron said the veterinary services department also confirmed receiving reports on the matter. He added that the department planned to take action against the perpetrators under the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
