PETALING JAYA:
A medical assistant was killed and seven others injured when two cars collided on the Kuantan-Segamat road near Pekan, Pahang, last night.

Pekan police chief Zaidi Mat Zin said 30-year-old Nur Ezyyantie Aliakbar from RPSB BT 8 Lepar, Pekan, died at the scene. She was a passenger in a Perodua Myvi involved in a collision with a Honda HR-V.

Zaidi said there were four people in each vehicle.

The Honda, driven by a 50-year-old man, was heading from Kuantan to Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, while the Myvi, driven by a 32-year-old man, was travelling from Segamat, Johor, to Kuantan, he said.

“The Honda is believed to have lost control and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the Myvi,” Zaidi said in a statement, according to Harian Metro.

Zaidi said the seven other victims, aged between two years and 50, suffered injuries and were taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for treatment.
