Acting Kuala Langat police chief Sufian Amin said the suspects, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested at 3.30pm, about an hour after the robbery at the factory.
He said the factory manager, a local man, reported the incident at around 2.30pm, saying that a group of men had entered the premises and seized metal sheets as well as other scrap materials.
The items were then loaded onto a lorry and driven away.
“Police also seized a pistol with 20 live rounds, a machete, and the truck believed to have been used during the robbery,” Sufian said in a statement today.
Sufian said all 16 suspects were remanded for three days from Nov 10 to 12, with the case investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
“Police are still investigating to determine the involvement of the suspects in the case,” he said.
