PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating the alleged abuse of a cat, which was caught on video, at the Pandan Jaya flats in Kuala Lumpur.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said an investigation was initiated following a report filed by a 26-year-old woman who said she witnessed the abuse by her neighbour last week.

“On Nov 1, the complainant heard noises from a cat outside her home and saw her 60-year-old neighbour abusing the cat by putting it in a net and dragging it from her floor to the ground floor,” he said in a statement today.

Azam said the man is believed to have abused the feline after it defecated outside his door.

According to the woman, several residents had advised him to release the cat from the net.

The video, lasting one minute and 29 seconds, has since gone viral.

“The case is being investigated for maiming an animal and cruelty to animals,” Azam said.
