PETALING JAYA:
A trader was fined RM2,500 by the Ipoh magistrates’ court today after pleading guilty to the charge of unintentionally killing a senior citizen at the entrance of a supermarket last week.

According to the charge sheet, Siti Nuridah Jumli, 24, along with another accomplice who is still at large, acted recklessly by causing the death of Kamar Mat Sarin, 64, at the entrance of a supermarket in Klebang, Ipoh, between 4.20pm and 5.30pm on Oct 25.

Nuridah, along with her accomplice, slapped the victim in the face and the back of his head, reported Berita Harian.

Magistrate Siti Nora Sharif ordered Nuridah to serve two months in prison if she failed to pay the fine.

The charge was framed under Section 304A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence, which provides for a two-year jail sentence, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The court heard that witnesses saw the incident and CCTV cameras had captured the incident as well.

Kamar’s medical report showed he had a heart condition for which he had not sought treatment.
