PETALING JAYA:
Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor’s special officer Salmy Anas Ahmad says he has made amends with the trader involved in a dispute with him, following the circulation of a viral video showing their altercation.

According to him, they met again at a cafe at around 11pm last night, where they shook hands and patched things up in the presence of several others.

“Actually, there was no issue between us. We’ve known each other for over a year and the trader is like family to me. If people knew how close we are, they’d find the whole story amusing as we’re like siblings.

“I’ve often visited his shop before and he has always welcomed me warmly. It was just that on that particular night, things somehow escalated.

“But when we met last night, we made peace and forgave each other,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.

Commenting on the viral video, Salmy said it may be the work of individuals with ulterior motives, noting that the person who filed the police report was not the one seen confronting him or grabbing his shirt in the footage.

“Instead, the report was made by someone unrelated to the incident. It wasn’t lodged by the person shown arguing with me in the video.

“I was told that the person who filed the report has yet to withdraw it and because of that, I have not withdrawn my own report from yesterday. I leave the matter for the police to investigate.”

He also said he had noticed several different versions of the story circulating on social media since the incident.

Yesterday, Kota Setar police chief Siti Nor Salawati Saad said they were investigating the viral clip of the altercation after receiving two reports about the incident from two men, aged 48 and 54.

In the clip, lasting 1 minute and 20 seconds, several individuals were seen expressing their dissatisfaction with a man they claimed was Sanusi’s aide.

They had accused the aide of allegedly assaulting a trader at the night market on Jalan Pegawai. The man denied the allegation.
