
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the collection will be put into the Consolidated Fund, with RM5 out of every RM20 collected per vehicle (excluding motorcycles) allocated to the Johor government.
Loke said his ministry will also discuss with the finance ministry to ensure that funds from the road charge collection are channelled back to support public transportation in Johor.
“As of September, it is estimated that 89,818 trips are made daily by various vehicles crossing the Johor-Singapore border through the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex.
“A total of 4,397,229 vehicles entered both Johor entry points as of September, generating road charge collections of RM87,944,580. On average, 16,107 vehicles enter Malaysia from Singapore daily,” he said.
He was responding to Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri), who asked about the average number of vehicles crossing the Johor-Singapore border daily.
