Abducted girl molested, nearly sold to prostitution ring, say cops

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan says investigations revealed that the 12-year-old victim was molested by two suspects, aged 13 and 23.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the victim was about to be sold to a prostitution ring in Chow Kit, but the deal fell through after the girl’s disappearance was publicised.
PETALING JAYA:
A 12-year-old girl who was reported missing from her home in Klang on Oct 8 is believed to have been molested and nearly sold to a prostitution ring in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said investigations revealed that the victim was taken to an apartment in Setia Alam, where she was molested by two suspects, aged 13 and 23, over a span of four days while being held captive.

“At the time the victim was taken, there were two men and two women in a car. She was brought to a rented apartment, given an e-cigarette laced with intoxicants, and then molested.

“There were signs of physical abuse, but they were not severe,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters, reported Harian Metro.

Hussein said the victim was about to be sold to a prostitution ring in Chow Kit.

“The group leader had sold her to the prostitution ring. However, when the police publicised her disappearance, the syndicate backed out of the deal. The victim was then sent home via an e-hailing service,” he added.

Police have arrested six people, including the two suspected of molesting the girl.

“Two of the suspects were known to the victim, one of them was her brother’s ex-girlfriend.

“That’s why she had initially agreed to enter the vehicle as she recognised the suspects, including a woman, in the car,” he said.

The police are still on the hunt for two more individuals connected to the prostitution ring.

The investigation was opened under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, punishable with imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction.

Previously, Klang Selatan police chief Cha Hoong Fong said a report was lodged by the girl’s mother at around 8.59pm on Oct 8 after she failed to locate her daughter.

He said the girl’s mother had asked her to retrieve some food from their car, which was parked below their flat, when she went missing.
