PETALING JAYA:
Three police officers, who were among 14 arrested while partying at an entertainment centre in Taman Dutamas, Cheras, yesterday, have tested positive for drugs.

In a statement, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the three officers concerned were stationed at the Kajang police headquarters.

“Based on inspections and urine tests, all of them, including the three police officers, were found to be positive for drugs.

They were remanded for one day (yesterday) for further investigations under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Hussein said the three police officers had been reassigned to the Selangor police headquarters’ management department pending the result of the investigations.

He said disciplinary proceedings would follow, as part of the internal procedures in the police force.

“Officers and personnel are prohibited from being at entertainment venues unless on official duty.

“Strict action, including criminal charges, will be taken against any officer or personnel found violating these orders, especially those involved in drug abuse,” he added.

On Wednesday, 12 policemen were arrested during a raid on an entertainment centre in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain later said all of them had been suspended from work immediately under Rule 3C of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

Razarudin said the police force would not protect “bad apples” who could undermine its reputation and reminded officers to be role models for society.

He also said the supervisors of these policemen would also be transferred due to their inability to manage their subordinates.

The raid followed a tip-off. A total of 31 people were arrested, out of which two were police officers while 10 others were rank-and-file personnel. All twelve policemen also tested positive for drugs.
