Onn Hafiz said the state government viewed the matter seriously and would not compromise with any party that stirs up issues that threaten the sovereignty of Islam or harmony in Johor, Bernama reported.
Penawar assemblyman Fauziah Misri had called for an investigation of the 2024 Pan Asia International Run held by the Hash House Harriers group after viral photos showed several runners being dressed immodestly, with others allegedly half-naked and promoting LGBT.
The menteri besar said the state government did not organise the run, nor did it issue any permission for such an event to be held.
He added that, after speaking to the police and event organisers, it was understood that what occurred was beyond the control of the organisers.
“We hope that this issue will not be prolonged until it affects and threatens the harmony of the state and the purity of the Islamic religion,” he was quoted as saying.
