
The deputy investment, trade and industry minister said he would still be contesting for one of the 15 spots in the Johor DAP leadership committee, though he does not intend to lead the state chapter any more.
“If both of us are elected, I will nominate her to be the new Johor DAP chairman,” he told FMT, adding that he would also try to convince the 13 others elected to back Teo to helm the post.
Johor DAP delegates will vote on the 2024-2027 committee on Sunday. The 15 candidates with the most votes will then choose the next Johor DAP chairman from among themselves.
Liew, a DAP deputy secretary-general, has been heading the party’s Johor chapter for four straight terms.
Teo, the deputy communications minister, is currently one of his deputies.
