LAHAD DATU:
The federal government will discuss with the Sabah government and Felda the return of native customary rights (NCR) land in Tambisan to its rightful owners.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said chief minister Hajiji Noor had informed him about the residents’ appeal for the return of their NCR land.

“There are 161.87ha of NCR land in Tambisan.

“Some of it is held by Felda. So, I will ask Felda to discuss this with the state government immediately.

“I agree the land should be returned (to the rightful owners) after proper discussions and a land survey is done by the state government and Felda,” he said in Felda Sahabat here today.

Anwar said while governments come and go, Tambisan’s residents have been waiting for decades for the NCR land to be returned to them.

“Like I said in Kota Kinabalu earlier, I don’t want problems to take too long to be solved.

“Since I am announcing this today, work should start next week. Within a month or two, this NCR land issue should be solved,” he said.
