
Johor Bahru Selatan police chief Raub Selamat said the duo, aged 23 and 28, were arrested at 11pm at an apartment complex.
“A check revealed that neither suspects have prior criminal records, and both tested negative for drugs,” he said in a statement.
Raub said the suspects were being remanded for seven days, from today to Sept 16, to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 430 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of five to 30 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, if convicted.

Over the past week, several areas in Johor Bahru had been affected by the odour pollution, forcing the closure of schools. Residents had complained of symptoms such as nausea, breathing difficulties, and dry throats.
Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi has called for swift action to identify those responsible for the odour pollution which affected multiple housing estates.
