PETALING JAYA:
The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has advised the public to exercise caution when at the Section 7 lake after a crocodile was reported to have been sighted recently.

MBSA said it is working with the wildlife and national parks department (Perhilitan) to act on the matter.

“People are advised to be careful when taking part in recreational activities at the Section 7 lake,” it said in a Facebook post.

A video making the rounds since yesterday claimed a crocodile was sighted in the lake, with netizens expressing concern that this would endanger visitors.

Five years ago, a young saltwater crocodile was seen in the Section 14 lake in Shah Alam, less than 5km from the Section 7 lake.

Selangor Perhilitan believed that the crocodile was released into the lake by a person, given that the Section 14 lake was not connected to any main rivers, making it difficult for the reptile to enter the lake on its own.
