PETALING JAYA: Part-timers working for Radio Television Malaysia will be paid arrears of wages this month, the national broadcaster promised today.
In a statement, RTM said the rate for piecemeal work was being finalised with the finance ministry.
“Once we obtain the finance ministry’s approval, piecemeal payments would be more organised and would not violate the government’s procurement procedure,” the statement said.
The statement came in response to reports earlier today that RTM’s part timers had not been paid since June.
The part-timers claimed that they were informed that RTM was awaiting government funds to pay them.
The reports claimed that more than 700 part-timers performed various tasks for RTM. However, the director-general of broadcasting, Suhaimi Sulaiman, said only 332 part-timers were affected.
