PETALING JAYA:
A pay rise for public sector workers in Penang will be discussed at the next executive council meeting, chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said.

“Civil servants at the federal level will indeed receive the adjustment, but we need to assess the impact on state finances for state civil servants, municipal council employees, and others in Penang.

“We anticipate that a salary adjustment will be necessary,” he said in George Town today, Bernama reported.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced a 7-15% pay rise for civil servants, to be implemented in phases, starting from Dec 1 for Phase 1 and from Jan 1 for Phase 2.
