Nenggiri voters unfazed by national issues, says Zahid

The BN chairman claims people in Nenggiri are more affected by issues in the state like logging and water supply.

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Nenggiri folk can use Saturday’s by-election to evaluate the performance of the PAS-led state government.
GUA MUSANG:
National issues played up by Perikatan Nasional, like the prices of goods and the targeted diesel subsidy, will not influence voters in Nenggiri when they go to the polls in two days, says Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid believes that the voters in the state constituency are discerning enough to determine which party is better suited at governing.

“Nenggiri voters are very astute; the national issues played up by PN do not resonate with them.

“However, state issues such as logging and water shortage, have long been known to the people of Nenggiri. There has been no resolution to these issues thus far.

“The public can evaluate not only the capabilities of the candidate but also the state administration, which has failed to address these issues in Nenggiri and Kelantan,” the deputy prime minister said at an event here.

Zahid was confident that BN candidate Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani would win the by-election this Saturday, based on the efforts the coalition’s machinery has put in so far.

The Nenggiri by-election will see a straight fight between Azmawi, who is also the Kelantan Umno Youth chief, and PN’s candidate from Bersatu, Rizwadi Ismail.
