PETALING JAYA:
Police have identified the remaining members of the armed gang that robbed a goldsmith’s shop at a Kajang shopping mall last June, after a shootout yesterday led to the death of one of the suspects.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said several arrests would be made soon.

“Police believe members of this group are armed and are still around Selangor,” he told Bernama.

Yesterday, a man with six criminal convictions for robbery was shot dead after he refused to stop his vehicle near the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway’s (SILK) Sungai Balak toll plaza.

Police said the suspect started firing at policemen, resulting in a shootout in which he was killed.

On June 17, four men carrying firearms robbed a goldsmith’s shop at Plaza Metro Kajang, resulting in losses amounting to about RM3.2 million.

The suspects, who were armed with two pistols and a rifle, fired one shot at the wall before escaping through the basement car park of the building.
