BUTTERWORTH:
A man who threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife outside Lotus’s supermarket in Bagan Ajam here over the weekend has been arrested, says Seberang Perai Utara police chief Anuar Abdul Rahman.

He said the woman sustained an injury to the little finger on her right hand during the struggle.

Anuar said the public made a citizen’s arrest before officers from the Butterworth police station took the man into custody.

“The suspect is the woman’s ex-boyfriend. We will bring him to court when ordered by the prosecutor,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Sections 324 and 506 of the Penal Code, for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and criminal intimidation, respectively.

A video of the incident – in which a man can be seen holding a woman in a choke hold and waving a knife at onlookers – was uploaded to X and went viral.
