PETALING JAYA:
Twenty foreigners, including two children, a majority of whom were from African countries, have been detained by police who rescued a 24-year-old Tanzanian woman believed to be a victim of sex trafficking.

Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID) director Shuhaily Zain said 14 Nigerians, two Ugandans, three Tanzanians as well as one from Maldives were arrested under “Ops Pintas Wakanda” at a condominium in Jalan Ampang this morning.

He said the 20 were arrested for various offences under the anti-trafficking law as well as for immigration offences. “The 20 foreigners comprised 10 men and 10 women (including two children),” Bernama quoted him as saying.

A worker at the condominium, who wished to remain anonymous, told the police that the foreigners were involved in “many illegal activities”.

Wakanda is the name of a fictional country that appears in Marvel Comics, and the home of “Black Panther”, an African superhero.
