Babysitter’s son held over alleged sexual assault of 5-month-old girl

A man has been arrested and remanded to assist in an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on a five-month-old baby girl in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu.

Magistrate Ahmad Syafiq Aizat Nazri granted the remand order today against the suspect, who is in his 30s, according to Harian Metro.

Kota Bharu police chief Rosdi Daud confirmed that the remand order is for seven days.

It is understood that the suspect, who is the son of the infant’s babysitter, was arrested yesterday following a police report filed by the child’s parents.

The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
