
The domestic trade and cost of living minister said in a statement that the period between June 10 and 30 saw only 14 cases involving 68,457 litres of diesel, compared to 65 cases from May 20 to June 9 involving 520,803 litres.
“The number of cases involving the misappropriation of diesel showed a significant drop.
“The number of people arrested in diesel-related cases has also decreased from 40 to just one,” he said.
Effective June 10, the government had set the retail price of diesel at RM3.35 per litre at all petrol stations throughout Peninsular Malaysia, while the price in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan remained at RM2.15 per litre.
Armizan however noted that cases of RON95 petrol seizures saw a spike during the same period, from 37 involving 17,064 litres to 46 involving 14,011 litres.
“The number of arrests also increased from 10 to 17 people,” he said.
