MCA Youth information chief Neow Choo Seong arrived at the Sentul district police headquarters at about 11.30am and spent 30 minutes giving his statement.
Neow said he was summoned by the police after a report was filed by DAP’s Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng over a Facebook post Neow had made concerning the “JMB cartel” claim.
“This case is real. As an MP, he should explain the issue since it involves one of his special officers. If anything I’ve said is not true, then he should have issued a response rather than lodge a police report against me.
“I was raising questions to him on behalf of the public,” he told reporters outside the Sentul district police headquarters.
Neow also challenged Lim to sue him if the claims were false, saying the DAP man should not waste the police’s time and energy.
Residents of the condominium filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission alleging that the JMB had committed corruption and abuse of power in awarding a RM3.3 million maintenance contract without a proper tender process.
They contend that the contract was awarded to an unqualified company that had not been audited since 2013, while it was revealed during an annual general meeting in December that the value of the contract was higher than the actual cost involved.
The company in question is also believed to be linked to certain individuals within the JMB.
