Tourism, arts and culture ministry evacuated after bomb threat

AstroAwani reported that a package was delivered to the ministry's headquarters in Putrajaya through a delivery service.

Police and fire and rescue personnel are at the tourism, arts and culture ministry in Putrajaya following the delivery of a suspicious package.
PETALING JAYA:
Staff and visitors at the tourism, arts and culture ministry in Putrajaya have been instructed to evacuate the building in response to a bomb threat.

A spokesman from the Putrajaya fire and rescue department told FMT that its personnel at the scene have evacuated everyone in the building.

The spokesman also said that the police are at the location with a bomb disposal unit.

Earlier today, AstroAwani reported that a package was delivered to the ministry through a delivery service.

“The ministry’s staff have seen the package, and it appears to be a bomb,” said AstroAwani’s senior deputy vice-president of branded content, Zaiful Ariffin, who was at the ministry to attend a meeting.

“As of now, we have not received confirmation (of what is in the) package.

“(We) have been instructed to evacuate the building as a safety precaution.”
