JOHOR BAHRU:
A policeman who was shot in his shoulder and hip during the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station here on May 17 was discharged from Sultan Ismail Hospital on Saturday.

Seri Alam police chief Sohaimi Ishak said Corporal Hasif Roslan, 38, was discharged after nine days of treatment and is on two months’ leave.

“The incident has traumatised Corporal Hasif and he received counselling during his stay at the hospital. If necessary, he will undergo further counselling.

“He is in stable condition and can walk unaided, but he will receive regular treatment over the next two months,” Sohaimi said at the Johor police headquarters here today.

In the 2.45am attack on the police station on May 17, Constables Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24, were killed by a masked intruder armed with a machete, while Hasif was shot and injured.

Seven people were remanded for seven days to assist in the investigations, five of whom were family members of the suspect. The remaining two were students who were at the scene.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the relatives were rearrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 after their remand period ended.
