PETALING JAYA:
German police are reported to have seized four special edition Bugatti Veyron supercars in Munich earlier this week, as part of a probe into the 1MDB scandal.

The German newspaper Bild reported that the four supercars linked to the 1MDB scandal were confiscated from a private storage facility. They are said to be part of a special “Legends” series of Bugatti Veyrons, with only 18 of such supercars built in six specifications.

Malaysian police have yet to receive information about the German investigation, according to a media report quoting Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain. He said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) might investigate the matter.

The four cars that were seized were reportedly the Rembrandt, Black Bess, Jean-Pierre Wimille, and Meo Constantini lines, which used to retail for over RM14 million. However, Bild noted that the actual value of the vehicles was tough to estimate and that they were rarely sold at public auctions.

FMT has sought comment from MACC.
