Civil service pay hike nearly finalised, says Anwar

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim previously said the new civil service remuneration scheme would be fully implemented from 2025.

PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government has nearly finalised a new salary structure for public servants, hinting at a Labour Day announcement.

In a statement on Facebook, Anwar said the new structure aims to alleviate the financial strain on public servants earning lower wages.

He also said the government is committed to providing an improved salary structure for civil servants despite the challenging economic conditions brought about by uncertain geopolitics.

“The government is shouldering this responsibility after taking into account the increased pressure on the cost of living, especially those with low incomes.

“I hope the proposed net increases in pay can be announced on Labour Day,” he said.

In the budget speech last year, Anwar announced that the new civil service remuneration scheme would be fully implemented from 2025.
