PERMATANG PAUH:
The government will seek avenues for an increase in civil servants’ salaries before the end of this year, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

Anwar, who is also finance minister, said the news will be announced in the next few months, or during the tabling of the 2025 budget at the latest.

“The lack of government funds is not the fault of villagers, or workers, but the fault of government management (and) leaders, especially those who plunder. While we’re fixing their mistakes, we shouldn’t burden the lower ranks but somehow, we have to find ways to increase civil servants’ salaries before the end of this year.

“During the 2025 budget speech, listen from start to end, because I will not be informing when exactly I will be announcing it,” he said while speaking at the Universiti Teknologi Mara campus here today.

Anwar added that everyone in the government agreed there must be an increase in civil servants’ pay.

In the budget speech last year, Anwar announced that the new civil service remuneration scheme would be fully implemented from 2025.
