Bangladeshi national detained after video of the incident goes viral on social media.

According to the police, the 43-year-old man who drove against traffic along Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing, did not have a driving licence.

Police have arrested a Bangladeshi national after a video of a car being driven against traffic went viral on social media yesterday.

Kota Tinggi police chief Hussin Zamora said the 43-year-old suspect was arrested at 3.15pm at the Kota Tinggi bus terminal, after a car was filmed driving against traffic at KM26.5 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Mersing.

“Prior to the arrest, the Kota Tinggi police headquarters traffic enforcement division had detected a 50-second video of the incident.

“The video shows a white sedan car being driven against traffic, endangering the lives of road users.

“The man involved did not have a driving licence,” he said in a statement today, adding that the suspect tested negative for drugs and had no prior criminal record.
