IPOH:
A police sergeant was arrested yesterday for investigations into the alleged rape of a Form Four girl at Seri Iskandar near here last year.

Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the 42-year-old was arrested at the Perak Tengah police headquarters, Kosmo reported.

“The suspect has been remanded until Wednesday for investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

“Besides the victim, we called several other witnesses and took their statements to aid in the investigation,” the Malay language daily reported him as saying at a press conference at the Perak police headquarters.

The 16-year-old victim had alleged that she was raped by a police sergeant in a car in front of a police station and also at a parking lot in front of a supermarket at Seri Iskandar in July and October last year.

The matter came to light after the teenager told her mother about it.
