KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have crippled a syndicate lacing bottles of juice with drugs, after six suspects, including the mastermind, were arrested in several raids across the Klang Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bukit Aman narcotics crime investigation department director Kamaruddin Din said the syndicate adulterated a type of juice with various drugs and distributed the beverage to entertainment outlets and private parties.

He said investigations revealed that the syndicate, which had been operating since mid-2023, used luxury condominiums in Kajang and Cheras as their bases.

Each bottle of the laced products was sold for between RM180 and RM300, depending on the size and drug content.

“Each member of the syndicate also received about RM30,000 a month as wages for processing and distributing the drugs, and made a lucrative profit from the sales,” he told reporters at the Cheras police headquarters today.

Kamaruddin said police seized 54.55 litres of drug-laced juice, 1.68kg of MDMA powder, 144gm of ketamine, 16gm of marijuana, 5kg of ecstasy powder, and erimin 5 and ecstasy pills worth a total of RM448,850.

Three luxury vehicles, cash and jewellery totalling RM489,408 were also seized in the raids.

Four of those arrested tested positive for ketamine, and one of them had a record for drug-related offences, he said.

The suspects, aged 19 to 40, have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
