IPOH:
The tourism, arts and culture ministry has not sidelined any state when allocating funds for tourism activities, deputy minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said.

He said the ministry had engaged in various consultation sessions, providing an opportunity for all state government representatives to voice issues related to the tourism sector in their states.

“This is a genuine opportunity for them (state government representatives) to voice their needs.

“We always welcome any collaboration or enquiries about tourism and cultural sectors,” he told reporters after officiating Tasik Cermin 2 in conjunction with Visit Perak 2024 here today.

It was reported today that the Perlis government was disappointed over what it claimed was a lack of response from the ministry on funds to upgrade tourist locations, especially for Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025.

Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli claimed that tourism, arts and culture minister Tiong King Sing had not responded to the state government’s request for a meeting to discuss the matter.

According to Shukri, the state government requested RM4 million to upgrade eight tourist locations in Perlis.

However, Khairul said there might have been a misunderstanding.

“We have allocated development funds to Perlis and have organised various activities to boost the tourism sector in the state,” he said.
