KUALA LUMPUR: Police broke up a diesel smuggling ring in Klang on Tuesday, arresting 12 men and confiscating 1.02 million litres of diesel worth RM15.2 million, Bukit Aman internal security and public order department director Hazani Ghazali said.
He said the 10 foreign nationals and two Malaysians were arrested by a police team from the department’s wildlife crime bureau/special investigative and intelligence unit.
In the operation, police confiscated 18 oil tankers, 16 skid tanks containing between 2,000 and 115,000 litres of diesel, 14 oil pumps and two inventory books detailing diesel stock.
“The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” he said today.
Hazani said the unit had carried out 13 raids from Jan 1 to 10, recovering more than RM39 million in assets and making 40 arrests.
