Shamsul said the report was made to end speculation that could cause public unrest and affect investor confidence.
He said the recent disclosure by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin proves the existence of a serious movement to overthrow the government despite knowing it to be futile.
“The ‘Dubai Move’ is an action that not only threatens the parliamentary democratic system, but is also pointless due to the anti- hopping law.
“Any attempts to create political instability that could threaten national security must be thwarted,” he told reporters after filing the report at the Putrajaya district police headquarters today.
Shamsul said 12 similar reports have been made nationwide by PKR Youth.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary, Azman Abidin, has also filed a police report.
Previously, speculation arose about the so-called “Dubai Move” in reference to alleged discussions in the United Arab Emirates between opposition leaders and certain government representatives to topple the Anwar administration.
The alleged meeting, which Anwar and other government leaders have played down, supposedly aimed to divide tasks among “agents” to identify MPs who would defect to the opposition.
Yesterday, Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor claimed that Perikatan Nasional had acquired enough statutory declarations (SDs) to overthrow the unity government.
However, he did not provide details, including the exact number of SDs obtained, especially from government MPs.
Anwar said today there is no need to comment on Sanusi’s claim, adding that he would only comment “if there is a bigger issue”.
