KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of being involved in the abuse of a four-year-old girl in Jalan Ampang Indah here.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the 39-year-old woman, who is also the caregiver of the child, was arrested at about 10pm at her residence yesterday.

He said the child’s father had lodged a report on Dec 17 after discovering signs of injuries on his daughter’s body when he fetched her from the caregiver’s house.

Medical officers at Ampang Hospital confirmed old and new injuries on the girl’s body, face, both knees, and legs, he said.

Initial investigations showed that the child’s mother, who rented a room in the caregiver’s house, paid the woman RM800 a month to look after her daughter while she went to work.

The woman has been remanded for seven days.
