He said this in response to Sanusi’s claims yesterday on moves by the opposition to take over Putrajaya, Bernama reported.
“Those who talk about moves to take over the government are irresponsible. As menteri besar and a politician he (Sanusi) should focus on his work (in Kedah) instead,” Loke was quoted as saying.
“Whatever move (other parties want to take), they can do so. As transport minister, my only move is to digitalise the transport ministry and focus on efforts to empower the MyJPJ application and so on.”
Yesterday, Sanusi claimed that it was “normal” in a democracy for opposition MPs to back the government and vice-versa, alleging that it was also allowed under the Federal Constitution.
He cited the five Bersatu MPs who pledged their support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration to ensure continued development in their constituencies.
Sanusi said he did not believe the unity government would last a full term and that he expected a new government to be in place by the end of the year.
His remarks were in response to speculation over what has come to be known as the “Dubai Move”, in reference to alleged discussions that took place between opposition leaders and certain government representatives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently.
The alleged meeting was supposedly aimed at dividing tasks among “agents’ to identify MPs who could switch support to the opposition to form a new government.
The move was played down by Anwar while deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was aware of the plot even before the people involved landed in the UAE.
