PETALING JAYA:
Police are probing blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, whose alter ego is believed to be Papagomo, over a video allegedly aimed at demeaning the prime minister.

In a statement, Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department deputy director Rusdi Isa said Wan Azri is being investigated by its classified criminal investigation unit over a video titled “DSAI Penyakit Misteri Tiada Penawar AIDS” (DSAI’s mystery illness, no cure for AIDS).

The said video had been uploaded on YouTube.

However, checks by FMT revealed that the video is no longer available on YouTube as the account had been terminated.

According to Rusdi, Wan Azri is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, Section 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA).

Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act deals with indecent, threatening, abusive, or insulting posts with an intent to breach the peace, while Section 504 of the Penal Code is for intentionally insulting or provoking a person.

Meanwhile, Section 233 of the CMA deals with using network facilities to upload offensive content.

“As the case is still being probed we would advise the public against speculating about the matter as it could jeopardise the investigation,” Rusdi said.
