In a speech during the monthly assembly of the Prime Minister’s Department, Anwar said everyone, including himself, must believe that they could always do better in their work.

“We must find ways to improve on our weaknesses, which is why I have said that in politics and in public service, we must allow others to share their views and give constructive criticism,” he said.

Anwar said in general, Malaysians were polite in their criticisms, though at times, some MPs went “overboard” in criticising others. However, he did not name any specific MP.

The prime minister also spoke about the importance of moderation and values in development.

“When I talk about Madani (concept) it is also about economic growth and digital transformation. These are important. If we just talk about values but do not do our work (develop the country), we will be left behind.

“We must grow in terms of values and development,” he said, adding good values come from within.

“Don’t speak ill of others, be good, do not take bribes and live moderately,” he said.
