PETALING JAYA:
Barisan Nasional’s bid to annul Perikatan Nasional’s victory in Gombak Setia during the Selangor elections will be heard next week at the Ipoh High Court.

The case will be heard from Dec 11 to Dec 15, and Dec 18 to Dec 22.

In a statement, Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham said he was ready to face the election petition in court.

He said his defence will be led by former judicial commissioner Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud.

Hilman, a former PKR Youth deputy chief, had won the Gombak Setia seat in August by defeating Selangor BN chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin with a slim majority of 58 votes.

He was first elected Gombak Setia assemblyman in 2018, winning the seat on a PKR ticket with a majority of 12,399 votes.

Before this, both Pakatan Harapan and BN were considering filing election petitions to annul the results of the Taman Medan, Sungai Kandis, Gombak Setia and Dengkil state seats, where the victory margins were low.

PH later decided not to proceed with challenging the results of the Taman Medan, Sungai Kandis and Dengkil seats won by PN in August.
