IPOH:
The four children abandoned at the guardhouse of the Perak Tengah administration complex in Seri Iskandar last week will be placed under the social welfare department’s (JKM) care, says its Perak director Nor Tipah Majin.

She said it was a support procedure while the children’s parents were being traced.

“Police are still trying to trace the parents and family of the children. JKM is focused on the protection and care of the children.

“JKM will also co-operate with police in tracing the family,” she said.

Nor Tipah said the four siblings were rescued and taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, here, for a check-up and they were found to be in good health with no signs of physical injury.

The four siblings, comprising three boys, aged 10 months, three and 11 years, and a six-year-old girl, were believed to have been abandoned in front of the guardhouse of the complex.

Perak Tengah police chief Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said information on the incident was received from a district JKM officer at 5.39pm on Nov 23.

According to Hafezul, a woman left the siblings at the guardhouse and drove away.
