PETALING JAYA:
Welfare authorities are tracking down the parents and relatives of four children who were found abandoned in front of a guardhouse at the Perak Tengah district administration complex in Seri Iskandar, near Lumut, Perak, yesterday.

The children are safe and have undergone health checks, Perak welfare services department director Nor Tipah Majin told Bernama after opening the Perak-level 2023 Children’s Day celebration at SK Sungai Tinggi in Trong today.

The four siblings, comprising three boys, aged 10 months, three and 11, and a six-year-old girl, were believed to have been abandoned in front of the guardhouse yesterday.

Perak Tengah police chief Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police were informed about the incident at 5.40pm.

The 11-year-old boy told police they were kicked out of a house near Bota and driven to the complex in a car by a woman.

The woman also left a plastic bag containing milk and disposable diapers.

The children have been sent to a shelter in Gopeng for safety and investigation purposes.

Nor Tipah thanked the public for sharing information on the children. This enabled the department to act quickly on the case, she said.
