1-year road closure at Jalan Sungai Besi to start Monday

Kuala Lumpur City Hall says it will provide alternative routes as the road widening and construction of a new bridge takes place.

DBKL had earlier said it was closing the Sungai Besi road leading to Sungai Besi or Petaling Jaya (opposite Fraser Business Park), and the Loke Yew roundabout from tomorrow.
PETALING JAYA:
The road closure at Jalan Sungai Besi leading to Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya (opposite Fraser Business Park) and the Loke Yew roundabout in Kuala Lumpur will start next Monday.

The closure, originally scheduled to start tomorrow, is expected to last one year, Bernama reported.

In a statement, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said the closure was to allow for the widening of the road and the construction of a bridge at the Loke Yew roundabout.

It said work on the widening of Jalan Yew, which started in October 2021, is expected to be completed by Dec 31, 2025.

It said road users will be provided alternative routes during the year-long closure.

Traffic from the Kampung Pandan roundabout to Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya will be diverted into two routes, one through the road next to Federal Bakery, and the other through the contraflow lane in the adjacent lane.

Jalan Yew from the Kampung Pandan roundabout to Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching will be closed throughout the construction period, and the alternative route is through Jalan Kampung Pandan, Jalan Imbi and Jalan Hang Tuah.

To enable the demolition of the ramp and reconstruction of the bridge at the Pudu roundabout leading to Jalan Sungai Besi (next to the Pudu police station), the ramp from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed to all traffic during the period.

“The alternative route is through Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua and Jalan Tiga,” DBKL said.

It advised road users to obey the signs and instructions from the traffic police to avoid any confusion and inconvenience.
