PETALING JAYA:
The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim) has urged the government and the opposition to strike a confidence and supply agreement (CSA) to foster reconciliation, focusing on improving the economy and advancing reform.

Abim president Faisal Abdul Aziz said he is concerned with the “constant wave of political hatred that can jeopardise the country’s stability and polarise the people”.

“Both the government and the opposition have to sit down and seek common ground, especially in issues related to political stability and the development of the people’s economy, and speed up the reform agenda,” he said in a statement today.

Faisal said the CSA will help achieve economic development, political stability and reform, and benefit the country and the people.

“The political stability initiated by this CSA will also accelerate the nation’s economic development efforts, ultimately ensuring the nation’s prosperity,” he said.

In 2020, the Perak state assembly saw the first CSA signed between Pakatan Harapan leaders and Barisan Nasional’s menteri besar, Saarani Mohamad.

Under the Perak CSA, all 59 assemblymen were granted equal annual allocations of RM200,000 each to serve their respective constituencies.
