The former home minister reiterated that he had nothing to do with the case and proceeded to ask the audience if he should sue the government.

“I swear in Allah’s name that I have nothing to do with the case. Should I sue the government? I will meet my lawyers and announce (in a speech) in Shah Alam tomorrow (tonight) on what we will do to the government that persecutes PN leaders,” he said in a fiery speech at Taman Melawati last night.

Other PN leaders who were charged in numerous corruption cases include coalition chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.

In May, businessman Sim Choo Thiam was charged with demanding RM15 million from another businessman, Hep Kim Hong, sometime in June 2021.

The prosecution said the sum was meant as an inducement for Hamzah to assist Hep’s company, Asia Coding Sdn Bhd, to secure projects from his ministry.

Sim was also slapped with three other charges of receiving RM15 million to secure projects from the home ministry. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

Subsequently, Hamzah responded by saying that it seemed like “certain people and businessmen” were pressured into “pointing their finger” at him.
