Jokowi on 2-day working visit to Malaysia

The Indonesian president is due to meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss bilateral issues, before having tea with the King.

Indonesian president Joko Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, began a two-day working visit to Malaysia starting today.

Jokowi is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to review the progress of cooperation and discuss outstanding bilateral issues.

“The prime minister and the president are expected to also exchange views on regional and global issues, including on the strengthening of Asean post-2025,” a Wisma Putra statement said.

“In addition, both leaders will witness the exchange of several agreements.”

The president will be accompanied by his wife, Iriana Joko Widodo, members of his Cabinet and senior officials of the government.

Jokowi is also scheduled to have an afternoon tea session with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, at Istana Negara.

In 2022, Indonesia was Malaysia’s sixth largest trading partner and second largest in Asean, with a total trade of RM130 billion, an increase of 36.5% compared with RM95.3 billion in 2021.
