Man held for hurling racial insults

A video clip shows the suspect, believed to be a food delivery rider, hurling racial abuse at a restaurant employee.

The police have arrested a man who allegedly hurled racial remarks in an incident at a fast food restaurant in Falim.

Yesterday, a video clip lasting one minute and 18 seconds showed the suspect, believed to be a food delivery rider, hurling racial abuse at a restaurant employee.

Ipoh police chief Yahaya Hassan said the 42-year-old man was arrested at 11pm.

“The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955,” he said in a statement.

He said the suspect tested positive for ganja.

Yahaya said the police were completing the investigation paper before referring the case to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

He also advised the public not to speculate on the case as it could affect the investigation.
